Dementia is in the top five causes of death in Iowa; it devastates the patient, as well as their families and friends. There is no cure for dementia and the few treatments that are available only work for a few months. However, it is estimated that 40% of all dementias can be prevented and that an individual can reduce their risk of getting dementia by up to 70%.
Dr. Patricia Quinlisk gives an overview of dementia, its risk factors, and explain how dementia prevention works. This presentation is ideal for clinical providers, managers, and administrators.
